First benchmark of the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 puts it at the height of the GTX 1080

The first benchmark of what would be the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 2060 appears that puts it directly at the height of the current GeForce GTX 1080.

Although everything points to the GeForce RTX 2080 and GeForce RTX 2080 Ti initially hitting the market, NVIDIA is naturally working on models intended for the average gaming fan. These will be mainly represented by the GeForce GTX 2060, the mid-range models par excellence for gaming. This graphics card has been seen in the 3DMark benchmark software with a really impressive performance.

First benchmark of the new graphics card

This particular model will not have Raytracing and it is for this same reason that its name changes. It seems that it will have 5GB of GDDR6 memory and due to the jump in lithography and these new memories has achieved a performance quite similar to that of the GTX 1080. It draws powerfully attention as what the mid-range of the Turing architecture will be capable of to stand up to the current high range of Pascal.

The first rumors indicated that the GTX 2060 would be about 30% more powerful than the current GTX 1060, which translates into matching the performance of the reference GTX 1070, but this benchmark shows us something different. We do not know at this time if these results refer to a GTX 2060 with stock frequencies or has received a boost with overclocking.

If really this result were with a bit of overclocking we would be talking about a real madness and it is that possibly with reference frequencies it would equate to the GTX 1070 but with raising the frequencies a bit we would have a graphics card with a performance similar to the GTX 1080 for perhaps the Half the price, so it could be the moment when 4K resolution starts to standardize.
