Apple recently announced that it will develop its own RAM architecture processors for its systems. A change that they have been brooding over for more than a decade and that has been precipitated by the recent problems at Intel. The company will base its processors on the ARM architecture, receiving the name Apple Silicon. These new silicones will be manufactured by the TSMC foundry, the same as AMD.
Apple's bet raises significant doubts within the sector regarding performance. There are serious doubts that the ARM architecture can stand up to the x86 architecture of Intel and AMD processors. It plays in favor of Apple developing its own operating system and can greatly optimize for these new processors.

That the Taiwanese foundry would manufacture Apple Silicon processors was an open secret. TSMC already manufactures other SoCs for Apple, and finding another partner could be a significant hassle. While outsourcing production of these SoCs to Samsung wasn't considered, it was a possibility. DigiTimes has now confirmed that the company's SoCs will be manufactured by the Taiwanese foundry.
Now the doubt arises about the lithography that the company will use. ARM processors are better in silicon size than x86, so they could be made in various lithographs. TSMC at the end of the year will offer the 5nm for SoC destined for smartphones, or what is the same, ARM chips. Perhaps these chips arrive in 5nm to maximize performance and reduce consumption.
The positive for TSMC is that it will have two large clients wanting to buy a large part of its production. Apple and AMD will have to stick together to ensure the correct amount of silicon to meet demand. Of course TSMC just 'has' to sit down and watch the two companies bid for chip production.
