Manufacturing of RTX 3090 Ti would be facing production problems
La RTX 3090 Ti graphics card from Nvidia was presented at the CES 2022 and there they said that later in January we would receive new news about her. That month of January has ended, being February 3, and we have not received new information about said graphics card, so it is likely that the plans have had to be changed due to unexpected problems.
According to sources from the Wccftech portal and those consulted by the well-known leaker Moore's Law is Dead, the problem lies in the supply chain for the manufacture and production of the NVIDIA RTX 3090 Ti, and it is a problem that is beyond the control of NVIDIA itself. This is why today they do not have enough units to ensure a correct launch.
It is very difficult to manufacture the RTX 3090 Ti today
The problem with manufacturing the RTX 3090 Ti stems from the difficulty of getting enough GA102 chips, the GPU on which the 3090 and 3090 Ti are based. They are the chips capable of reaching the necessary clock speeds, higher than those of the basic RTX 3090, and with the full number of CUDA cores of 10.752 for the Ti version.
Moore's Law is Dead speculates that might have to make some adjustments to the card, even having to increase the power above 450 W. This amount of power for a graphics card would require dedicating its own power supply, as is speculated from the RTX 4000 which would be much more powerful than the RTX 3000 but with much higher energy consumption.
Both leakers claim that it is very likely that Nvidia will have to redesign the graphics card to adapt to current conditions. They reaffirm that all this is mere speculation and nothing is certain, but it would be one of the many possibilities why NVIDIA has not talked about the RTX 3090 Ti since it was officially announced.
