NVIDIA Ampere graphics cards will deliver a historic performance leap

Rumors surrounding NVIDIA's upcoming graphics cards for the gaming segment continue to swirl. These cards are expected to be significantly more powerful than the current GeForce RTX 20 Series . According to Colette Kress, NVIDIA's CFO, the next NVIDIA Ampere graphics cards will represent a historic leap in performance. However, as always, it's best to wait until they are released.

NVIDIA Ampere will be based on TSMC's 7nm lithography for the high-end and Samsung's 8nm entry-level, according to rumors. As always, we must be careful with all the unofficial information (and the 'official') that appear. But in this case, it seems that the river does carry water.

Historic NVIDIA Ampere Performance Leap

During the Global Technology Conference, NVIDIA CFO Colette Kress spoke about NVIDIA Ampere-based graphics. Last May 14, Jen-Hsun Huang, during the GTC 2020 Digital presented us with Ampere @ 7nm. During the Morgan Stanley Global Technology Conference, Kress answered a few questions.

A very interesting fact revealed by Kress is that they have been working on Ampere architecture for no less than 3 years. It has also indicated that commercial versions for the general public are already being mass-produced. Come on, it does not seem that NVIDIA is going to delay the launch of the next generation of graphics much.

Perhaps the most striking data offered by Kress has been: "The Ampere architecture is the largest leap in history, far surpassing other GPUs." Basically it looks like a warning to surfers, indicating to the competition that no matter how good products they have, they have better ones.

We will not sell the bear's skin before we hunt it. It is true that NVIDIA has a great advantage over AMD, but the latter has already surpassed Intel and now they are going for NVIDIA. We will see if they are capable with RDNA2 to cut distances and compete with NVIDIA Ampere.
