AMD's RNDA 2 could be presented at CES 2020 and would arrive with dedicated hardware for Ray Tracing
A rumor indicates that AMD will charge everything against NVIDIA and at CES 2020 it will present its new graphics cards based on the RDNA 2 architecture.
It seems that AMD is in quite a rush to overtake NVIDIA in the graphics card market. Its Ryzen processors already outperform Intel's Core processors and the next goal is to battle with NVIDIA. The company's most powerful weapon today is the RDNA architecture, already used in Navi. Precisely this architecture will be used in Navi 20, which could be seen at CES 2020.
The leak has been made by Wjm47196 on the Chiphell forums. It sure does not sound like you, but it has already leaked the launch data of Polaris 30 (RX 590) and data of the Ryzen and Threadripper. It also previewed the Radeon VII for the first quarter of 2019 and that it would be based on 7nm.
Radeon RX 6000 Series for CES 2020?
According to this user, the plan is to present a Radeon at CES 2020 RX Navi based on RNDA2. This event the first of the year and for AMD would mean hitting the table and showing its power. There is also talk that the company could present a second generation APU in Las Vegas.
AMD a few months ago already mentioned that RDN A2 had been developed and the first products will arrive in 2020. These graphics have the mission of presenting a face in the high-end to NVIDIA graphics, something that has not been achieved.
Everything suggests that these new charts will feature:
- 7nm + lithography
- Enthusiast-range desktop gaming solutions
- Hardware Ray Tracing
- GDDR6 and / or HBM2 memories
- Better energy efficiency
As always with leaks, it is better to be cautious and take it for what it is, rumors. Everything suggests that RDNA 2 will have dedicated hardware for Ray Tracing, something that is already essential. NVIDIA implements it and although the catalog is extremely limited of games with this technology, it seems that it will be a mainstay in the development of Triple A games.
