Nvidia has announced the future launch of three new graphics cards, focused on the market for low-end laptops that want to have the ability to move games. They are the GeForce RTX 2050, the GeForce MX570 and the GeForce MX550, and their arrival is expected early next year.
Nvidia's new line of laptop GPUs is made up of two different architectures. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 2050 graphics card is based on the previous generation Turing architecture, but the MX570 and MX550 are based on the current Ampere.
New NVIDIA cards for low-end computers in 2022
The RTX 2050 represents an older architecture, but it is a completely new graphics card that actually rivals the laptop version of the RTX 2060. It is based on the TU106 GPU, with 2.048 cores that surpass the RTX 2060. Its TGP reaches the 45 watts. It will have 4 GB of GDDR6 memory at 14 Gbps, but due to its 64-bit bus interface, it only has 112 GB / s of bandwidth compared to the 336 GB / s offered by the laptop version of the RTX 2060. Nvidia's new version also has a boost clock of up to 1.477 MHz, which is slightly lower than the 1.560 MHz maximum found on the RTX 2060.
While we know a lot about the RTX 2050 for laptops, Nvidia hasn't released much information about the GeForce MX570 and MX550 graphics cards. They are brand new units and not much is known about them except the architecture they are based on. Being part of the current Ampere GPU lineup, the same as some of the best graphics cards on the market today, they are entry-level cousins to the RTX 3000 lineup.
According to Nvidia, all three cards are going to support ray tracing, Reflex, Broadcast, and Nvidia DLSS. They're also going to work with Nvidia Optimus, which means they should offer a good balance between long battery life and gaming performance.
