The RTX 4070 SUPER could use the unreliable 12VHPWR connector

The 12VHPWR is the connector that, debuting for the RTX 4090 model to be able to provide it with energy without turning the box into a spaghetti container, has caused a bigger problem. The 12VHPWR connector has been giving overheating problems due to a poor connection, and even alternatives such as those from cablemod They are not entirely reliable. Now, that connector would be the one that will power the RTX 4070 Super model.
This model has not yet been announced. But recent rumors suggest that it would be one of the three RTX 4000 Super models that would be announced at next week's CES in Las Vegas, and that they would be on sale starting at the end of the month.
The 12VHPWR connector, the one that causes overheating problems, is possibly on the RTX 4070 Super
According to the most recent leaks, the Asus brand would be working on a custom Dual OC version of the RTX 4070 Super, still unannounced. Images of the card have been leaked by leaker @momomo_us, which would give some versatility to its leak, although anyone can make a render.

The design of the card would be similar to that of the series RTX 4070 Dual, but with some differences. According to KitGuru, the Super version would be somewhat narrower and shorter. But even if it is smaller in size, it would need more power. It would consume 225 W compared to the 200 W of the non-Super RTX 4070 reference model. The leak reveals that at least this specific 4070 Super card will use a 12VHWPR power connector, instead of the 8-pin connector used on standard RTX 4070 Dual cards.
This detail alone could put many people off., because people don't want to risk ruining a graphics card because of incorrectly connecting a cable that is already prone to having bad connections. We can imagine that NVIDIA and Intel have reviewed the connector, and that even for CES 2024, they will announce the new version of the 12VHPWR that is giving us so many headaches and burned graphics.
