[RUMOR 03] AMD Navi Could Match or Outperform NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti
Leaking indicates that the new AMD Navi graphics cards could even outperform the NVIDIA RTX 2080 Ti.
The launch of the AMD Radeon VII has been a true failure, due to the tiny amount of stock, its high price, its high consumption and its temperature problems. A graphics that has been a total improvisation and something to make noise in front of the NVIDIA GeForce RTX. The interesting thing will be Navi, the next graphics card architecture from AMD. This architecture is still largely based on the outdated GCN, although it will receive improvements in the upcoming graphics design. It will also be based on 7nm lithography, but it will be more efficient than Vega 20 and possibly support RayTracing.
AMD Navi could compete with the RTX 2080 Ti, according to rumors
What interests us most is how these new AMD graphics cards will perform. We must remember that AMD made a lot of hype with its Vega 10, saying that they would be great and such and in the end they have been little more than passable. Vega 20 has been a disaster. RedGamingTech indicates that Navi's performance will be equivalent to or better than that of the RTX 2080 Ti.
We must emphasize that the difference between Pascal and Turing is not so much the performance, but the implementations. This new architecture has Tensor Cores and RT Cores, to improve RayTracing and DLSS performance. The performance difference is not an exaggerated thing either, although it does exist.
Considering AMD's background, it is better to take this information with a grain of salt and let it not go to anyone's head. The consumption will be lower, but when using mostly GCN and despite the 7nm, they will consume more than the NVIDIA. This is a major problem that AMD needs to fix if it wants to do battle. It should be noted that the arrival of Intel's dedicated GPUs is expected by the end of this year or the beginning of next, which will compete directly with AMD and NVIDIA.
