Despite the performance improvement of the Ryzen 3000, the i9-9900K is still better in gaming

Despite the much better performance of the AMD Ryzen 3000, even in some cases, Intel's Core i9-9900K, is still somewhat better in games.

There's no question about the quality of AMD's Ryzen 3000 processors . These new processors show promise and offer good value for money. They are based on the Zen 2 architecture at 7nm and feature a significant improvement in IPC (instructions per cycle). Despite the significant leap in quality of these new processors, they still can't outperform Intel processors in gaming.

Along with these processors have come the motherboards with AM4 chipset and PCIe 4.0 port. The best way to take advantage of this connectivity is through M.2 NVMe SSDs. You get a performance improvement of 42% over the PCIe 3.0 port. As for graphics cards, you will not get a great performance improvement.

The Core i9-9900K is still the king of gaming

Several media emphasize that despite all Intel processors they continue to reign in games. Despite the Specter and Meltdown mitigations for Intel and the recent optimization of Windows 10 for the Ryzen, Intel dominates. Logically for price, taking into account that the difference is practically nil, the Ryzen 3000 are a better option.

However, PCGamesHardware highlights that the Core i9-9900K is still ahead of the Ryzen 9 3900X under certain conditions. Intel's processor is still more powerful in games, but it's a bit silly to buy it for gaming only.

The difference between Intel and AMD processors, for now, is practically nil. Except for a few specific cases, the Ryzen 3000 processors are better. For example, in processor load tasks, such as photo or video editing software, a Ryzen is better.

Also, now the price of the Ryzen Threadripper is being thrown. We can find the Threadripper 2950X with 16 cores and 32 threads, for just over 900 euros.
