AMD Ryzen 5 7600X surpasses the range-topping Ryzen 9 5950X
A future AMD Ryzen 7000 processor has just appeared in a Basemark benchmark. It's most likely an engineering sample of the Ryzen 5 7600X, from the mid-range of the 7000 series, and would be paired with a new Gigabyte X670E Aorus Master motherboard.
Although it's likely early, lacks final drivers, and has other factors working against it, AMD's upcoming mid-range CPU achieved a great result in the benchmark. It managed to outperform the current flagship of the Zen 3 architecture, the Ryzen 9 5950X; therefore, we can expect even better results from the Ryzen 9 7900X.
Zen 4 mid-range beats Zen 3 flagship
First spotted by leaker TUM_APISAK on Twitter, the purported Ryzen 5 7600X is listed as having six cores and 12 threads. The engineering sample, identified as “100-000000593-20_Y,” features a base clock speed of 4,4GHz. This means the final product could be capable of pushing the 5GHz barrier in boost mode.
It also features an increased combined cache size compared to its predecessor, the Ryzen 5 5600X. The new Zen 4 CPU will have 32MB of L3 cache and 6MB of L2 cache, for a total of 38MB. While the current generation Ryzen 5 5600X also has 32MB of L3 cache, it has a smaller L2 cache, which makes each group of cores slightly slower.
There is also a difference in clock speed between the two cores that have been compared. The Ryzen 5 5600X has a base clock of 3,7 GHz compared to 4,4 GHz in this engineering sample. Benchmark results focus on the performance of the Nvidia RTX A4000 GPU that the processor was paired with.
The leaker Harukaze5719 on Twitter provided some performance metrics for the CPU. The overall benchmark score indicates that the mid-range Zen 4 sample outperforms the high-end Ryzen 9 5950X by 9,5% . And in one of the tests, it wins by 11,13%. But as is typical with these early benchmarks, this is an engineering sample without final graphics and could change in its commercial version. The Ryzen 7000 series is expected to hit the market this year and impress with the transition from the Zen 3 to the Zen 4 core architecture.
