The AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX processor consists of 12 cores and 24 threads, and is based on Raphael silicon, and is presented as the high-performance CPU designed for gamers and professional laptops. This model will power higher-end gaming laptops based on AMD hardware, such as the Alienware m16/m18, ASUS ROG Strix, or Lenovo Legion. According to AMD, these CPUs will work with TDPs above 55 W.
The more powerful 7x45HX processor will feature 16 cores, but this SKU has not yet been tested with PassMark. The same goes for the upcoming Intel Core i9-139x0HX series, which it is not present in the database either, but very surely we will see it in a few days since it goes on the market in a few weeks.
Ryzen 9 7845HX Scores Great in PassMark
For now, AMD's 7845HX is the fastest mobile cpu in the database from PassMark, with a score of 46.791 points in the multicore test. He got 4003 points in a single thread test. They warn that both results are based on a single execution of the test, so they may not be very precise and a more accurate test should be carried out.
Compared to the last generation Ryzen 9 6900HX with 8 cores, the processor Zen 4 it is significantly faster. Thanks to the higher number of cores, the CPU score for multi-threaded workloads is 90% higher. On the other hand, single-threaded results are 17% better than the 6900HX.
But Intel's Raptor Lake-HX series coming in the next few weeks is likely to be faster than the 7845HX. The 7845HX is respectively 3% and 43% faster than the last generation i9-12950HX. Intel is also increasing the number of cores in its 55W HX series from 16 to 24 cores, so AMD's top position could be dethroned in a matter of a few days.
AMD promises that Ryzen 7000HX series will launch in February, but laptop makers have yet to share their exact plans. It will feature 6-, 8-, 12-, and 16-core CPU models, with boost clocks of up to 5,4 GHz. They are the first AMD mobile processors to offer more than 8 cores.
