Samsung would be finalizing a 870TB capacity 4 EVO SSD
Filtered the new family of SSD drives, Samsung 870 EVO with capacity up to 4TB
Solid state storage drives, or SSDs, have evolved a lot in recent years. We have seen how capacity has been increasing as prices fell. According to the WinFuture medium, Samsung is preparing a renewal of the family of 870 EVO units. It seems that the South Korean company works in units of up to 4TB capacity.
A few days before closing 2020, Intel reported that in 2022 the price of the Gigabyte in the SSD would be below the price of the Gigabyte in the HDD. One of the reasons would be the implementation of the new NAND Flash PLC memory chips. These memories support 5 bits per cell, which is a huge leap in capacity.

It is increasingly common to see SSDs up to 2TB with relatively affordable prices. Samsung would be working on 870 EVO units of up to 4TB. This is possible, among others, to the increase of layers in the memory chips NAND Flash. By reducing manufacturing costs, the prices of these units fall.
The new Samsung models have yet to be officially announced. As has been leaked, the new Samsung 870 EVO range will receive capacities of 250GB, 500GB, 1TB, 2TB and 4TB. All these drives are SATA 2.5 ″ format, so we do not know if these capacities will reach the mSATA or M.2 NVMe formats. It is likely that for these formats these capabilities will end up arriving, although it is too early to say.
There are no speed improvements for these 2.5" drives due to the SATA interface. The new Samsung 870 EVO will offer 560MB/s read and 530MB/s write speeds. The problem is that the SATA interface is very outdated and receives no upgrades (nor are any planned).
As leaked, the 4TB drive will have a Terabyte written rate of 2400TBW. It is not a bad data, although it is very similar to what is offered by the 860 EVO models. They could be presented on January 14 during CES 2020 and could be launched during this first quarter of 2021.
