Sapphire introduces the GearBox Thunderbolt 3 eGFX system for external graphics.
Although these systems are not particularly interesting and have a highly reduced audience, the company has launched one of these chassis for eGPUs designed for ultrabooks, laptops, miniPCs or any other equipment that has a very discreet graphics and thus increase power and system performance. This chassis supports different models of graphic cards, being the option recommended by the company the RX 580 from Sapphire itself.
It should be noted that it has a 500W power supply, so it is not recommended to install a RX Vega graphics card due to their high consumption. It has two USB 3.0 ports, the Thunderbolt 3 @ 40Gbps port essential to connect it to any system and a Gigabit Ethernet connector, apart from the video connectors of the graphic in question.
This external graphics card system without an integrated graphics card will be priced in Europe at € 339. The system with the RX 580 Nitro + 4GB GDDR5 will be priced at € 540, the system with the RX Pulse 8GB is € 560 and the system with the RX 580 Nitro + 8GB is € 580.
