A Z390 chipset motherboard is visible in 3DMark... with a Coffee Lake processor

The first benchmark appears in the 3DMark of an Intel processor with the Intel Z390 chipset, but at the moment the Whiskey Lake processor based on 14nm has not yet been seen.

The Intel Z390 chipset for Whiskey Lake processors is not any kind of mystery, since it has been listed countless times, although at the moment it has no release date. The most interesting thing has just appeared in the 3DMark, since a benchmark with a Supermicro motherboard with the Z390 chipset has been leaked. The interesting thing is that this motherboard as a processor uses the Core i7 8700K, therefore these new motherboards will be compatible with Coffee Lake-S processors.

Few new features are expected for this new Z390 chipset, since no major improvements are expected with respect to the Z370, support will simply be added to the Whiskey Lake processors, which stand out for being the first from Intel with eight cores. This will be possibly the biggest novelty, the arrival of the eight cores for the domestic market by Intel. The fact that compatibility is offered could also indicate that the current Z370 motherboards and derivatives will support the new Intel processors, which will also arrive in 14nm.

We could think that, but everything indicates that simply the eight-core processors will only be compatible with the Z390 and on these motherboards it will be allowed to install the Coffee Lake-S. The most remarkable thing, possibly, is that we have not yet seen any benchmarks of a new generation Intel eight-core processor, possibly because they are in the manufacturing phase and we still have to wait a bit.

We must emphasize that these processors are expected to arrive or at least be seen during Computex 2018, although there is still a little more than a month for the event. We'll see if we see them at this tech event or Intel saves them for August / September.
