SOYO shows a motherboard with AMD B550 chipset

It's been eight months since AMD Ryzen 3000 processors were released, and since then, we've only seen X570 motherboards . We haven't seen any motherboards with other chipsets, leaving X470 and B450 as the only alternatives. Now, the first motherboard with the B550 chipset has surfaced. The motherboard seen in China is based on the B550, which is essentially just an improved version of the B450 chipset.

For weeks there has been a lot of talk about the existence of these motherboards, emerging various rumors. AMD has not said anything about motherboards with the B550 chipset or if the AMD 400 Series chipsets were the alternative solution to the current X570. A communication strategy that is reprehensible.

The PCIe 4.0 interface added by AMD with shoehorn has been found to actually add nothing. Only Radeon graphics support this interface and it hardly affects graphics performance. We also see little supply of NVMe SSD drives based on the PCIe 4.0 interface and these drives are very expensive.

Returning to the chipset, there is no confirmation, but it would be a B450 with support only a support for PCIe 4.0 x16, or what is the same, for the graphics card. To date, motherboards with this new chipset can only be seen in already assembled systems, and to a very limited extent. Note that through an update, the B450 chipset obtained support for PCIe 4.0 for a short time. AMD was the one who censored this using a specific AGESA microcode.

Supposedly leaked image of SOYO motherboard (Maxun subsidiary) that Videocardz has had access to. Said motherboard is micro-ATX and looks like an entry-level motherboard. It has two DDR4 DIMM sockets, 4 SAT A 3 positions, 2 PCIe x16 slots and one PCIe x1. We can also see an M.2 slot on the motherboard. It lacks cooling in the VRM phases and has a 4 + 2 phase power supply system.
