Galax has unveiled what promises to be one of the fastest SSDs on the market. The Galax Hall of Fame Extreme promises to reach speeds of 7.000MB / s.

It is a second generation PCIe 4.0 SSD that offers astonishing sequential read / write speeds. It does so thanks to the power of Phison's new PS5018-E18 controller.

An SSD with blazing speeds

The Galax Hall of Fame Extreme SSD will be available in 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB capacities. These will offer users sequential read/write speeds of 7.000 MB/s and 6.850 MB/s, respectively. These speeds match those of Sabrent's recently unveiled Rocket 4 Plus , as both SSD manufacturers are using the same Phison controller. Therefore, this is one of the fastest SSDs in the world for anyone who truly needs incredibly fast file access.

Like the Sabrent Procket 4 Plus, the Galax Hall of Fame Extreme SSD uses TLC NAND and falls within the M.2 2080 form factor. In the case of the Galax SSD, it distinguishes itself by offering its users a white PCB and a mirrored heatsink. This heatsink is thinner than the heatsink used with the previous Galax PCIe 4.0 SSD, a factor that will improve the compatibility of this unit with modern motherboards.

The fact that it reaches the speeds of the Samsung 980 Pro is great news for consumers. Most SSDs using Phison's PS5018-E18 controller will achieve similar speeds, and we could be looking at a new standard for data transfer and read speeds.
