Threadripper 3960X: This AMD processor is seen with no less than 24 cores and 48 threads

Filtered the AMD Threadripper 3960X processor with 24 cores and 48 threads, one of the processors that should reach the market in November.

At the end of September from AMD announced the delay of the Ryzen 9 3950X and the Threadripper new generation. The first because it would not reach the frequencies announced by AMD and the second because of the excess demand of TSMC. Now the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X processor has been leaked, which will have 24 cores and 48 processing threads.

These new processors from AMD are based on the Zen2 @ 7nm architecture, just like the Ryzen and the EPYC. Castle Peak (codename) will apparently have up to three different chipsets. Only those with TRX40 chipset compatibility could be supported by current X399 motherboards. Those intended for TRX80 and WRX80 will not have this backward compatibility, according to rumors.

We know little about the new generation Threadripper. AMD even forgot about them for a while, sparking rumors that they would no longer be manufactured. Lisa Su, CEO of AMD came out to inform that these processors were going to come out, when it came time.

Here are the ones that have been leaked to date:

• Threadripper 3980X: 48 cores and 96 threads / 280W TDP
• Threadripper 3990X: 64 cores and 128 threads / 280W TDP

Base Frequency and Boost, Cache Amount, and Price have yet to be revealed. AMD has also not confirmed the existence of three chipsets, something that is talked about a lot. We prefer to be cautious and wait.

Who does not have much room for maneuver is Intel. The company a few days ago announced the Core-X with a significant price reduction. Specifically these new processors in 14nm will cost half that of the previous generation.
