Threadripper 3990X exceeds one million points for the first time in Master Lu

One of the great monstrosities in computing today is the AMD Threadripper 3990X processor. This processor is characterized by having 64 cores and 128 threads, and does not get along with some versions of Windows. Minor issues aside, this processor is a beast. Master Lu's account on Weibo (the Chinese version of Twitter) indicates that this processor has passed the million point barrier.

Yesterday, without going any further, on the YouTube channel we published a video of a budget for a television production company with this processor. And is that the Threadripper 3990X is a processor designed to support carts and wagons. While we have seen that you can run Crysis without the need for a GPU, this processor is designed for heavy loads.

Threadripper 3990X keeps hitting milestones

The software used for this benchmark may not sound like anything to you, neither do we, but there are many things out there. To date, no processor on the market had managed to exceed one million points in Master Lu. Specifically, only in CPU it has obtained 1.297.457 points, which is crazy. And more if we take into account that it has "beaten 99% of the users in the country"

Let's put a bit of context. The Intel Xeon Platinum 8272L processor that has 26 cores and 52 threads working at a base frequency of 2.6GHz and reaching Boost mode at 3.7GHz scores 488.713 points. As we can see, the Intel Xeon processor gets 1/3 of the points obtained by the AMD processor.

As AMD has said, this is only possible thanks to the MCM architecture used in Ryzen. Even the company has said that in using Intel's monolithic system they would only have reached 48 nuclei. Also from AMD they point out that the price of their processors is so low precisely due to the MCM design.
