TSMC is the world's largest semiconductor manufacturer

It was recently announced by TSMC that on September 14 they will stop supplying chips to Huawei. This measure required by US law may not affect the company at all. What's more, shares in semiconductor maker TSMC have passed $ 66, with a market capitalization of $ 313.000 billion.

This figure includes companies that have foundries and make chips, those who design and make them, and those who only design them. TSMC, GlobalFoundries and SMic only manufacture for third parties. It also includes Intel and Samsung who design and manufacture their chips. And it also includes NVIDIA and AMD who design chips but do not have their own factories.

TSMC is the world's leading semiconductor company

TSMC is currently estimated to have a 52% share of the semiconductor manufacturing market. And is that companies such as Apple, AMD and Qualcomm, among others, request their products from the company. Such would be the demand that it would have had to say no to NVIDIA for not being able to meet the demand. The latter is not very clear, since there is different information about it.

NVIDIA, who has always been a great TSMC customer, would have made a living with Samsung to satisfy their demand. Samsung's node wouldn't be as good as TSMC's, but there would be no choice for the company.

One of the reasons for this market situation is due to Intel's problems with 10nm and Samsung's poor strategy. This would have allowed TSMC to rise above the competition, beyond the advancedness of its nodes.

But it is also very difficult for SMIC to achieve its objectives. The Chinese foundry has set out to overtake TSMC, who wants to lead the semiconductor market.
