There is more supply of NAND memories than demand, something that will benefit SSDs in the short term

It seems that the price of NAND memories is falling, because there is more supply of these memories than demand, reducing the price of SSDs, although this trend will be reversed shortly.

Many say that the cryptocurrency market is highly volatile, but more crazy and random is that of NAND memories, which one day goes up because a few thousand memory wafers have been lost due to technical 'failures' and the next day they go down, because there is excess demand. Despite the fact that in recent weeks we have risen from several incidents that would have caused the loss of thousands of wafers and everything indicated a significant rise in prices, things could change, due to an excess supply of these chips which will allow an adjustment to the drop in SSD prices.

The data we have is that supply is lower than demand, but it seems that it is not, since there is an excess supply of NAND chips, something that could drive a reduction in the prices of SSDs, but we will see if it happens the same in RAM. This situation would allow users to get hold of a solid state drive, without having to pay more, allowing them to buy drives of more capacity or choosing better components.

Nor should we be very optimistic, since the supply, higher than the demand, of NAND chips is relatively small, but that would alleviate the situation a bit and that last month about 4% of world production was lost due to problems of various production.

The big memory manufacturers, on the other hand, are already working on new factories, so this is not the time to throw prices down as they need the capital to finance part of the new plants. These plants are necessary, on the other hand, since smartphones increasingly demand more storage and there are markets that also demand high-performance technologies.

These drives should see prices drop until the beginning of the second half of the year, so it's a good time to buy an SSD. It will be at that point, when the trend can change, since the second half of the year is usually loaded with high-end smartphones, with large capacities and large companies prepare Black Friday and Christmas, two consumer periods, where technology is sold in industrial quantities.
