Huawei wants to compete against Netflix in streaming content
Huawei wants to fight Netflix, with a utility, initially, only compatible with Huawei and Honor smartphones and that will also offer live content, such as sports and eSports.
Netflix has created a before and after in the production and sale of content on the Internet, creating a platform that offers high-quality series and movies, in streaming, for a fairly affordable fee and that with series like Narcos, they have managed to win over public (and with controversial announcements, why not say so). Huawei, the Chinese company, wants to stand up to it and would be working on the adventure of developing a system that offers series, cinema and also live sports and eSports, the latter, something increasingly popular among young people.
This is an advertisement that has just been produced and we still do not have all the data, (we are working on collecting it) and right now, this platform would only be available on Huawei and Honor smartphones, looking for differences and giving value to the company's terminals. The launch of this service will take place during the first quarter of 2018 and will reach Spain and Italy, in the first instance and shortly after the rest of Europe, expanding to the whole world, later, but it has not been specified when. Right now there are few allies, but they are being added gradually. Under The Milky Way and AtresMedia have been confirmed as allies, apparently focusing on local content, with pro-territory customization.
Huawei will make three modalities available to users: free service, a basic service that will be based on series and movies, and a third paid service, which will incorporate live events, but will not work until well into next year. There will be options to view content offline, with a download of the content in the terminals, to be able to see it in any space without having to use data. Apparently the offline mode will only be available in the paid service.
