Intel Core i5 + and Intel Core i7 +, for sale, the processors that can be deceptive and that are accompanied by an Intel Optane unit for cache

Available in the market the lying Intel Core i5 + and Intel Core i7 + processors, which offer zero extra performance compared to the 'normal' Core i5 and Core i7, only have an Intel Optane for cache, inside.

It's been some time since we finished understanding what the hell Intel is doing, who seems to have lost the north. If a few days ago we were surprised by the idea of AMD to rename the RX 500 Series by RX 500X Series, not to introduce improvements and sell them for laptops and OEM equipment, now Intel is going and marketing the Core i5 + and Core i7 + processors, of which already something had been rumored. Theoretically these solutions were intended for OEM equipment, those that you find in large areas inflated with price, but it seems that they will also have a commercial version

These Coffee Lake processors provide absolutely nothing in terms of performance, compared to the 'normal' Core i5 and Core i7. The '+' symbol is simply there to indicate that it is accompanied by an Optane unit, which only serves as a cache. At the very least, in the images we see, we see no reference to the Optane unit, which can mislead the unsuspecting and uninformed consumer. Are we facing some kind of scam by Intel? Well man, calling it like that is a bit strong, but deceiving, well a bit.

Only three versions of these combos have come out: the Intel Core i7 + 8700 (BO80684I78700), the Core i5 + 8500 (BO80684I58500), and the Core i5 + 8400 (BO80684I58400). These are already available in the market and are accompanied by a 16GB Intel Optane that costs about € 35 and can only be used as a cache. It is clear that these units have not been sold, because honestly, to buy an HDD and this crap of a unit, you buy a 120GB SSD and you win (if you already have a HDD for mass storage, which is what should be normal) .

It should be noted, to close this, that not all Intel motherboards offer support for Optane and not all have an M.2 PCIe port, so we have to go with a thousand eyes with what we buy, to avoid their or buy useless junk .

  1. Well, if Intel does nonsense lately ... we do not know anything about when they will release new processors with the new architecture, right? (I don't remember the name) because I wanted to change the processor and graphics but as the gpus market is also expensive and intel that is not clear ... pfff ..
