The Intel i5 8400 would confirm the great power of the Coffee Lake and points to the AMD Ryzen

Intel i5 8400 can spare the i5 7600K, improving up to 50% the performance of this processor and the Coffee Lake points to be very tough competitors for the AMD Ryzen.

Intel's reaction has been almost immediate to the AMD Ryzen and is that Intel would have been saving a pretty serious trump card to beat the AMD processors. We must emphasize that the first leaked benchmarks of the Intel Core i7 8700K exceed the AMD Ryzen 7 1700, although of course, these data are very nice, but we will see at the moment if they are fulfilled or not. The SiSoft Sandra data would establish that the Coffee Lake would be very serious competitors against the Ryzen and the latest leak, regarding the Intel i5 8400, would certify it.

Thanks to the two extra cores and the four extra processing threads, the i7 8700K offers 45% more performance than the i7 7700K processor through a synthetic processing test, while in the multimedia processing test, the improvement reaches 47 %. The synthetic benchmarks, the more cores, processing threads and frequency, the better data they give, then in gaming, things already change. The one that interests us, the i5 8400 with six cores and six processing threads, which will be around € 200-225, will be the replacement for the i5 7400, which has four cores and four processing threads. This i5 8400 will be 40% more powerful than the i5 7600K in arithmetic processing tasks and 50% with respect to multimedia tasks.

This data is quite significant, because with very little, Intel processors achieve a very significant performance improvement. It was expected that the Coffee Lake would improve performance, at most 30% in the best benchmarks, but the difference is very big with respect to the Kaby Lake and it is that it would improve in mononucleus processing, something that seemed difficult after the excellent Kaby Lake data. I am not a master in mathematics, but 4 cores to 6 cores = 50% +, but it yields a maximum of 40% +, but it is still below the R5 6/12 in multi-core, now it is true that the best processor of the series will be the i5-8400 which averages an improvement of 30/55% over the i5-7400, the rest has only an average of 11% + the cores and extra ht, but everything will be defined in the cost of each procedure.

    1) The best of Intel, and in a long time, will come perhaps for next year (2018), right now in this 2017 the most suitable are the RYZEN from AMD.
    2) The RYZEN 7 2700 U with their VEGA GPUs included, of course they will be superior in graphics performance compared to the Intel and their basic GPUs that have never excelled in performance.

    If we're talking about processors, well, until 2016, AMD products were of little value if we wanted high performance; this situation didn't help the market at all. Fortunately for that market, the leap in quality was notable with the Ryzen, and even with those minor issues of whether "the RAM is compatible to get the most out of it" (understandably, it's something that bothers us), then if we're talking about someone who wants to install a computer primarily for work and play for enjoyment, in my opinion, a Ryzen-based platform is preferable to an Intel processor, one of the current ones and those coming in October of this year. What's coming next are processors that Intel is rushing to bring, running fast, with more cores, etc., and then you have to worry about whether the thermal paste they use is cheap or of very poor quality, and if you run them to high frequencies, they get very hot... Can you really recommend a product like this to someone who wants a reliable system? It's better to wait for Intel, that giant, to settle in and show its potential with a new development: a new architecture with fewer nanometer nodes.

  5. The intel got their hands on the cash drawer just in case, even so the r5 1600 is still a good asset, let's see if they lower the 1600x of the € 240 which seems expensive to me

    1. I have the R5-1600X with the AMD 1700 cooler and a GTX 1060 card, it works wonderfully and the good thing is that I have a machine for a long time

    No, Intel is not the most sensible right now… If we talk about processors, until 2016 AMD products were of little value if you were looking for high performance; this situation did not help the market at all. Fortunately for that market, the quality leap was notable with the RYZEN, and even with those small problems of whether “the RAM memory is compatible to get the most out of it” (it is understood that it is something that bothers) then if we are talking about a person who wants to install a computer to first work and play for enjoyment, it is preferable in my opinion a platform with RYZEN than an Intel processor of the current ones and those that are coming in October of this year 2017. What is coming are processors that Intel brings running, in a hurry to feel pressure, with more cores, etc… to then be in that botch of “if the thermal paste that continues to be used is cheap or of very poor quality, then if you keep it at high frequencies these heat up a lot”… can you really recommend a product like this to someone who is looking for a reliable system for their work?… Better to wait for Intel, that giant, to settle down and show its true potential with a new development in reality: new architecture with fewer nodes in nanometers.
