Intel XNUMXth Generation Kaby Lake Processors

Intel had planned to unveil the rest of the features of its seventh generation of Kaby Lake processors in an official presentation at the end of 2016 , but for " paranormal " reasons they have decided to bring it forward through leaks, revealing practically all of its features.

But hey, since we already have it here, let's take a look at what will be the news of this new generation of Intel Core.

Features of the XNUMXth generation of Kaby Lake processors

  1. For now, it will keep its manufacturing process at 14 nm as it is in the current generation.
  2. Will have 4 real cores and 8 threads internal processes.
  3. The clock frequency, in standard mode, it will be of 4,2 GHz and reaches maximum levels of 4,5 GHz in turbo mode.
  4. 8 Mb L3 cache
  5. For this new range of “U” series processors it will be accompanied by the integrated graphics HD 620, which will be able to offer reasonably good performance even for not very demanding games.
  6. Improvements in the Socket LGA1151 which will be divided into 3 subcategories.
    1. LGA 1151 - standard power, do they work only with 95W processors by TDP.
    2. LGA 1151 - Low Power, required all with low power processors with 65W by TDP.
    3. LGA 1151 - ultra low power, all with 35W processors by TDP.
    4. ¿ dWhere is the Higth Power? ¿ it doesn't seem like something is missing ?

It is important to clarify that in point 6 of the characteristics listed above, precisely because it is divided into those 3 subcategories, it will make it impossible to install it on a low-end motherboard.

Yes ... what you are thinking right now, it is true, it is very possible that your motherboard is not compatible, but if you decide to get one of these processors, you will have to think first about replacing your motherboard with another that is compatible.

The compatible motherboards for the seventh generation of processors are framed in the high range which are those corresponding to the fourth category level that has not yet been presented, but it is expected that it will be shortly.

In short, beyond the evolution in performance, it is that it will force a greater adaptation of the motherboard in tune with the chosen processor.

This complicates a lot for the less expert when it comes to configuring a team (by components, I mean) without the help of someone knowledgeable in this latest generation of processors.

Regarding prices, nothing is known yet. This is precisely one of the "small" details that coincidentally have not been leaked. We will have to wait for its official presentation.

Considering the improvements offered by this new generation , do you think it's worth making the investment to enjoy all its advantages?
