Users abandon online purchases if complicated passwords are requested
Who has not happened that to buy an object from an online store you must create an account and thereby create a new password that is secure? This security becomes counterproductive for many users, since it is normal to resort to used passwords that are basic safe, but the problem comes when many requirements are asked to make a secure password.
Bad login and password experiences are causing online stores to lose some sales, according to a new report from Beyond Identity. The authentication service provider recently surveyed 1.000 consumers to better understand how new security measures affect their shopping habits.
Nobody wants to think of a password for a single store
What was found from the report was that many shoppers are annoyed by password requirements and always looking for ways to bypass them. According to the report, 67% of online shoppers have lost interest in creating an account on an e-commerce site due to password requirements. For the 24%, having specific password requirements, such as a minimum number of characters, required numbers, and special characters, is the main annoyance.
Many users have confirmed that they are looking for different ways around the password requirements. 58% of them use the same security question on multiple shopping platforms, and the vast majority of e-shoppers experience password fatigue from having to create an account when making a purchase since it can take months or years to complete. buy back from it.
But online commerce is the most popular form of shopping today as the pandemic forced many brick-and-mortar store owners to go digital. This shows that there is interest in buying in online stores other than with Amazon, but that users feel that as much security is not necessary to make a purchase.
