The European Union removes geographic barriers for digital stores
Removed the barriers of digital stores by the European Union and also prevents a restriction by territories.
We are approaching a key date that can change the course of the internet as we know it. The European Union wants to put doors to change and wants to limit the internet, in this case it has focused on regulation and purchases in digital media. This change that is being announced is an important change with something that has been called the Digital Single Market, which is already in force and in this case eliminates the regional blockade present in some stores.
The European Union removes territorial restrictions on digital purchases.
With the implementation of a Digital Single Market, it makes all digital stores that belong to the European Union. Now it is blocked that the stores can redirect you to the website of your country automatically and that they restrict you from making purchases in online stores in another EU country that is not ours.
This measure simply seeks to prevent companies from limiting users when making purchases through the internet. "In 2015, 63 percent of websites do not allow interested parties to buy in another EU country," according to data from the commission itself.
This new rule also establishes that restrictions on shipments of products to certain countries are removed. Until now, different restrictions could be given depending on the country, but this new regulation prevents an online store from carrying out geographical restrictions. The rule specifically states that "online discrimination based on nationality or place of residence will end"
The regulations are quite curious at the moment where the EU wants to restrict the sharing of images, videos, memes and any content that has copyright, which would mean a serious restriction of the internet as we know it.
