Online bookmakers advertise mostly during children's hours

Many children are watching sportsbook advertisements on TV that can be easily accessed online. Youth is one of the focuses of bookmakers to cultivate future players.

Bookmakers are currently a serious problem for current Spanish society, both physical and those that operate through the internet. There are many stories of how people in immediate need of money or entertainment enter these places and develop gambling.

There are a huge number of gambling establishments in the big cities, especially in the working-class neighborhoods and in the youth. In the district of Tetuán there are already mobilizations against them by residents who do not want their city "to be a casino."

Online gambling has a lot of presence during children's hours

In the case of online gambling websites, they have a huge presence on television. It is not easy to avoid their ads in any time slot. And in those time slots there is the protected children's schedule, considered a protected space, from Monday to Friday from 8:00 to 9:00, being from 9:00 to 12:00 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays and from 17:00 to 20 : 00 hours. It is because it is when more children under 13 are watching television.

The Audiovisual Council of Catalonia and the Council of Medical Associations of Catalonia have presented a study on the advertisements of online bookmakers. He says that almost half of the ads are broadcast during children's hours. It is precisely the minors that are most feared about addiction to gambling and betting houses, since gambling houses have very lax control over the access of minors to their betting houses.

It is undeniable the enormous problem that a minor involves receiving advertising from betting houses, especially children. It is not unusual for a minor to take their parents' credit card and start gambling, and later develop gambling at an early age. It is totally irresponsible on the part of televisions to broadcast these ads with so many underage viewers.
