Netflix will stop working on old Samsung SmartTVs
Some Samsung TVs warn that from December 1 Netflix will stop working. There is no official announcement by either company about which models will lose access to the streaming service.
Netflix is going to stop working on some older Samsung smart TVs as of December 1, 2019. Samsung broke the news on its official website, while Netflix is sending error messages directly to the TVs of affected customers.
The error message simply states, " Netflix will no longer be available on this device after December 1, 2019. " The announcement is vague. It doesn't explain why support is being discontinued for some older devices, other than that it's due to technical limitations.
No exact model data
So far there is not much information to keep in mind regarding older smart TV models that will no longer be supported after December 1. Samsung provided a link to Netflix's list of compatible devices, but this is in fact a tutorial page that doesn't mention much about device compatibility. So unless you are looking for guides on how to use Netflix on your Samsung device, the link will not help.
Whatever technical limitations may prevent older Samsung smart TVs from accessing Netflix in the future, there is not much Samsung can do to prevent it. This change does not only affect Samsung brand televisions. Samsung is not being treated differently as it is something that happens with more models of televisions. Whatever changes Netflix systems may be going through, they don't seem to go hand in hand with older hardware.
