Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL, the new Google phones
Google makes the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL phones official. The hardware hasn't changed much and most of it focuses on new software and some camera enhancements.
Google just announced the Pixel 4 and Pixel 4 XL at its hardware event in New York City. He has put little time on his news and has gone straight to the point, which we appreciate.
The Pixel 4 comes in three new colors: white, black, and a limited-edition orange option. It can be purchased today and will ship on October 24. The regular Pixel 4 starts selling for 799 euros, and the Pixel 4 XL for 899 euros.
The Pixel 4 XL has a 6.3-inch Quad HD display, while the 4-inch Pixel 5.7's display is 1080p. Both have a maximum refresh rate of 90Hz for ultra-smooth scrolling and response, but the refresh rate automatically adjusts to the usual 60Hz in some circumstances to optimize battery life.
New version of Google mobile
In addition to screen size and battery capacity, the two new pixels offer identical hardware specifications. They are powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 processor, come with either 64GB or 128GB of storage, and have 6GB of RAM.
In the area of the top bezel of the Pixel 4, Google has housed a series of sensors that enable two new functions. One is Google's own face unlock system, which is the company's answer to Apple's Face ID. The other is a new interaction method called Motion Sense. This allows the Pixel 4 to be controlled with hand gestures, without the need to touch the phone. Motion Sense uses Google's Project Soli technology. With Motion Sense you can do things like control the music or dismiss an incoming call with a wave of your hand near the phone screen. Motion Sense processing is done locally on the device, and Google noted that the feature can be disabled at any time.
Pixel 4 camera improvements
For this year's camera system, Google has added a telephoto lens alongside the standard main rear camera. The telephoto lens offers 2x zoom through a hybrid optical and digital focus.
The new Pixels arrive just as Apple has finally caught up with Google's camera performance, and some believe the new iPhone 11 offers superior image quality. Even on the Android side, companies like Huawei have been steadily shrinking the once significant camera advantage of Google. In addition to adding a secondary rear camera for the first time, Google is also adding new software tricks and improving existing modes like Night Sight, which now has a long exposure astrophotography feature.
Live HDR + offers a real-time view of the image that you will get after Google applies its image processing. There's also a new shadow slider if you want more control over what HDR is doing, and Google says it has improved the white balance in all photography modes.
The Pixel 4 also features a new Recorder app that transcribes automatically, and very quickly. Being a Google product, you can search all past recordings for a particular word. And again, all of this happens on the device itself without the help of the cloud. This will be a great help if you want to take voice notes and it will not be uncommon for the application to reach more mobiles and for rivals to release similar versions.
