Spot (Boston Dynamics robot) helps social distancing in Singapore
The measures to stop the coronavirus pandemic have been quite harsh and now the relaxation of the measures begins. The problem is to control that a minimum of social distancing measures are followed to avoid a new outbreak. To control the return to normality, in Singapore they are using the famous Boston Dynamics 'dogs' to patrol and control the streets.
The well-known Boston Dynamics Spot robot has many capabilities and the number of uses is very varied. A function that reminds us a lot of the 'Black Mirror' series, where this robot also appears. This robot in Singapore is simply on a mission to remind us of the social distancing necessary to avoid a rebound in the pandemic.

Spot, the Boston Dynamics robot, also fights the coronavirus
They have developed a pilot program in Singapore where Spot is vigilant in the city's parks and open spaces. The Digital Government and Smart Nation Group and the National Parks Board are implementing it to make the city more 'smart'. Spot allows you to control social distancing and reinforce security without compromising people, since they are controlled remotely.
All Spot robots integrate cameras, which allows the capacity to be controlled in parks. According to Strats Times, a local outlet, these cameras do not track people, do not identify them and do not collect data. Although there are no guarantees of this either.
Spot robots have gone out on patrol during off-peak hours and in a 3-kilometer area in Bishan-Ang Mo Kio Park. Of course, their presence does not go unnoticed at all. In addition, they broadcast a pre-recorded message that promotes social distancing as a measure against contagion.
It should be noted that Spot has the advantage over other robots in that it has legs, not wheels. This allows it to move around the different surfaces of the park, dodge obstacles and detect people thanks to its sensors.
