Wing, a Google subsidiary, obtains the first permit in the United States for commercial drone shipments

Alphabet obtains the first commercial license to send parcels by drone in the United States. It is expected to be a sector in high demand due to the low weight of many technology orders and its scalability and automation.

Wing has been testing autonomous parcel shipping drones for years, a sector made popular by an Amazon video that many considered a joke. Time has passed and investors believe that this can significantly change how purchases are made. In the case of automating it, it would accelerate the shipment of parcels in large cities in most online purchases.

Wing already has permission to send packages by drone

Wing was formed in 2014 and has been licensed for testing since 2016, with 70.000 test flights and 3.000 shipments in Australia. Added to this are future trial projects in Finland, but everywhere you want to operate you will have to go through legal holes.

The program for the United States is expected at the end of the year, where it will have to collaborate with the government to provide data on its flights. It is expected that the information of this type of projects will be especially watched by regulators around the world to see if they decide to accept these projects in their countries.
