Konami will return to making more and bigger video games
Konami will have more to offer than each year's PES and rehash of its games. They want to increase their portfolio of games.
Konami has published very few games in the last few years since they finished Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain and kicked out Hideo Kojima. Super Bomberman R, which is fine, some Yu-Gi-Oh games, that Metal Gear Survive that we want to forget about and annual installments of Pro Evolution Soccer that have lower sales every year. It's funny that they release Contra: Rogue Corps this month... Because it turns out they want to get back into the video game business.
More games of caliber to come from Konami
In recent statements, a representative of Konami has commented that they want to expand their catalog of games using more well-known franchises globally. They do not want to depend solely on the mobile market because they see that mobile players then go on to buy games in their console version, as they saw with Yu-Gi-Oh Legacy of the Duelist: Link Evolution.
They also see a future in turning their games into eSports as with the aforementioned Yu-Gi-oh! With which they have organized events, Super Momberman R, and the new name of Pro Evolution Soccer to which they have added eFootball. They hope to take advantage of the Olympics in Tokyo next year to take advantage of their sports licenses.
The important thing here is that they have not made any mention of pachinko, a business for which Konami chose three to finish Metal Gear Solid V. It was a business with less risks, but seeing that recent regulations are going to limit the addictive factor it is possible that they will lose one large amount of money seeing that it does not seem that the change in the law regarding pachinko is going to be canceled. It's still too early to ask for a new Castlevania, but muddle-through small and medium titles like Contra: Rogue Corps, and re-releases of their classic games on modern systems can help them regain consumer confidence.
