Meanwhile, we have to settle for seeing how the AMD Radeon Vega Frontier Edition performs, a graphics card designed especially for rendering. An anonymous user has taken one of these graphs and has submitted a home review of it. This graphics card is intended for video game development, so it is capable of moving games, but it is not intended for games, but it's funny how it compares to NVIDIA's GTX 1080 Ti and GTX 1080 in games.
We remember a bit its characteristics, those of the Frontier Edition of course, which has a Vega 10 graphics processor with 4096 Stream Processor, working at a maximum frequency of 1600MHz, with no less than 16GB of HBM2 memory, which work at 945MHz, which together with a 2048-bit memory interface, offer us a bandwidth of 483.8GB / s. As complementary information (which is usually ignored), we will say that it has a TDP of 300W and will cost about € 1200.
The ones that allow us to see this comparison, of a graphic not exclusively intended for gaming, is what we feared, performance at most similar to the NVIDIA GTX 1080, with a consumption similar to the NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti, but with a price , possibly, similar to that of the NVIDIA GTX 1070. The delay of this graph is possible that it is based on the performance, since it would be less than expected by AMD, which would explain why NVIDIA released a rehash of Pascal at the moment and Volta was saved for when it is necessary to show muscle again, and is that AMD continues to give a lot of hype to its products, but then, reality arrives and everything remains in a row.


In the best of cases, you would expect an improvement in gaming between 5 and 10%, which does not seem like much after such a long waiting time and from how AMD has sold it, which seemed like they were going to eat the market. They always do the same, they sell a lot of smoke and then the disappointments come.

In reality, the frontier edition is a professional and gamer hybrid. Its driver allows the modes to be exchanged between one and the other without problems.
That is because it is developed for video game programming, so you need to test that everything works well to correct code or polish it if necessary, that is why it has a dual mode, but it is not really directly intended to play, far from it.
They say the same of the quadros and a P5000 against a GTX 1080 there is only 3 fps of difference.
