The Project Scorpio Dev Kit shown with 24GB of GDDR5

For a couple of weeks we have known the aspect of the Xbox or Project Scorpio developer kit, however today we have known certain specifications about this version of the console that do not coincide with the one that will be released throughout this year. Regarding the design of this model made for Microsoft workers, we have to say that although it will probably undergo changes, its line of continuity with the model for all audiences is much greater than in the cases of Sony's PlayStations.

Project Scorpio

We see many similarities between the design of this Xbox, aimed at developers of the brand, and that of the Xbox One S. In terms of inputs, we find on the front there are 3 USB 3.0, a CD reader and a screen that indicates the frames of the game we are running, the speed of writing and reading the memory ... On the other hand, we also have 5 buttons in the upper right part, about these we do not know their usefulness, we can only assume that one will be to turn on / off, another to restart and a third to extract the disc (we have two left without knowing their use).

On the other hand, the specifications in which this exclusive model differs from the common one are the 24 GB of RAM that contrasts with 12GB, 2816 Stream Processors against the 2560 SPs of the commercial version and the 1 TB solid state hard disk instead of disk hard mechanical. Finally mention that the graphics used and the 8-core Jaguar processor is exactly the same.

Over the next few months (especially at E3 next June) we will learn more details about this console that ensures resolutions and FPS rates that are very questionable, nothing more and nothing less than 4K 60FPS. If this is the case, a console will have finally appeared that establishes a tough competition for PC.

    1. In the unlikely event that it reaches 4K resolution with 60 FPS with decent graphics and an affordable price in the console world, yes, and it will be a great option. A pity that seeing that hardware it is practically impossible for those standards to be reached.
