The sale of pre-assembled laptops and computers is stabilizing

The market for pre-assembled laptops and equipment is still in free fall, but above all, the worst performers are ASUS, which is starting to decline in many markets, and Acer, which often offers products that leave much to be desired.

The markets for clone or pre-assembled computers and that of portable equipment have been in decline for several years and that is because users do not want certain products, which we could call, of low quality and performance. According to market analysis by Gartner and IDC, who have published sales figures for the fourth quarter of 2017, point to a stabilization of the market. Sales have increased 0.7%, compared to the same period in 2016, which is equivalent to sales of 70.5 million equipment.

HP continues to be the one that sells the most clone equipment and increases its sales volume by 8.2%, in contrast to ASUS, which is losing market share in all segments, including clone equipment, where it loses 11.2% of sales. Apple has sold 5.77 million Macs, an increase of 7.3%. IDC agrees with these data, where HP also reigns, followed by Lenovo which drops a little in sales, third is Dell, fourth Apple that manages to improve its sales by almost 6% and in this case ASUS 'only' falls 10.6%.

Gartner is more pessimistic, coinciding in the fourth quarter with the IDC data, regarding the sales increases of HP and Apple and they also coincide in the bad moment of ASUS and Dell, Lenovo and Do remain at a point of stability . The group of other manufacturers registers a 10% drop. If we look at the whole of the year, we see that HP gains 4.6% in sales, Apple 4.1, while ASUS falls in sales more than 12%, Dell just gains a 1% in sales, Lenovo falls 2.2% and Acer plummets 6.5%.
