They create two ninots with a 3D printer and as an element for their manufacture they have used rice straw, a very abundant element in the town of Valencia.
This time we bring you a curious news about 3D printing, a technology that has arrived relatively recently and that points to great things, although it is still in a fairly early phase. This year they wanted to unite 3D printing and the Fallas de Valencia and they have succeeded. Just this year the Fallas have been declared Intangible Heritage of Humanity, in addition, this time it has been the first time that a ninot has been printed with a 3D printer, which has been made with rice straw, something very Valencian, too.
Specifically, we are talking about a chair and the head of a Venus, which have been the first two ninots made with a 3D printer and rice straw, which have been part of the great municipal fault. This has been possible thanks to the research carried out by four professors from the Polytechnic University of Valencia, in collaboration with the Valencia City Council, through a research and development agreement that was signed by the Las Naves Innovation Center.
It seems relatively small, we know, but it is a great advance, not so much the fact of printing two prototypes that have been burned, but also, it has served to recycle the straw of the rice plant, something that in L'Albufera de Valencia is not exactly in short supply. A small step that combines tradition and new technologies. We want to highlight the words of Pere Fuset, councilor for Festive Culture and Jordi Peris, councilor for Innovation.

Today they have already been able to make 3D printing with rice paste, rice straw and balsa wood, with a very sustainable system, with a very clean burning, which I am convinced that in the future will be a great help for the Fallas artists to continue working without losing the slightest creativity and betting on an even more sustainable model of our festival. On the one hand, it allows the use of materials that do not put the health of the artists at risk and, in addition, reduce pollution during combustion. On the other hand, it provides an outlet for the rice straw from L'Albufera. Jordi Peris comments.[/quote]
