The United States Air Force is developing a portable, self-contained solar-powered camp that takes less than an hour to deploy.

Electricity generation today can be done in many ways, either through fossil fuels or with more modern solutions such as renewable energy, either with photovoltaic or wind power. The Office of Advanced Power Technology of the Air Force Research Laboratory (APTO) has developed an advanced system for portable bases for war zones and military deployments, which broadly allow the deployment of a micro solar plant based on deployable photovoltaic cells. and its own battery system for storing this solar energy.

The idea of ​​this system is to create a portable base of operations that allows to establish a completely self-sufficient camp, developed with the clear intention of being used in military bases or in rescue operations in complicated areas with complex access. On these mobile bases, it has not been disclosed what is the total operating size, the capacity for degeneration of the surface or the storage capacity, because the different elements have been tested independently, with the intention of adapting the needs , as well as the size and performance according to the circumstances and needs.

The set has been established in a system of tents, which integrate solar panels in the upper area with the intention of being deployed quickly and easily, integrating inside all the necessary elements and lithium batteries for recharging and transformation of the direct current into alternating current, which will allow it to be used as a primary energy source or as a backup solution when the primary network fails.

This solution, according to its creators, is in the development phase and they intend to make it easy to transport and to be able to deploy the entire camp in approximately one hour, being able to power the entire camp for at least thirty minutes. They also say that they are developing bulletproof solar panels and lightweight and portable wind energy systems, which will be presented throughout the year.
