NVIDIA graphics would be increasing by 10% due to the shortage of GDDR5 memory

The prices of NVIDIA graphics cards have started to rise, as mentioned a few weeks ago, due to the shortage of GDDR5 memory, causing a 10% increase at least in graphics cards.

AMD RX Vega just hit the market and shortages are a problem with these graphics cards, but the graphics card market has another problem. As we mentioned a few weeks ago, there was a shortage of memory and this is beginning to occur in the NVIDIA GTX 1000 Series graphics cards. The GDDR5 memory shortage is causing the price of graphics cards to rise. This problem was announced a few weeks ago and now it seems that it is becoming a reality.

The report published by DigiTimes hints that the prices of all graphics cards would be increasing in price. We must specify that the prices refer to the two versions of the GTX 1050, the GTX 1060, the GTX 1070, the GTX 1080 and the GTX 1080 Ti. This price increase would be around 10% approximately and is already beginning to be noticed since we have passed to the month of September. According to this report, Samsung and SK Hynix have already reduced the manufacture of GDDR5 memories, because these months at least five high-end smartphones that require a large amount of memory will arrive, so the problem goes beyond the SSD and memory RAM to graphics cards.

Both manufacturers also have set a price increase for GDDR5 memories, which would represent more than 30% compared to the primary price. As we have said, this is due to the need to manufacture RAM chips and for smartphone storage, since these months, especially at Christmas, is when more of these devices are sold. It is not the only problem, since on the other hand there are the miners, who are increasingly pressing for the purchase of these products and will not like this price increase at all, since it modifies the return on investment. The situation in the IT market is very tense and could end up exploding in everyone's face.

  1. Because of mobile phones, we pay exorbitant prices for components—double the price of just a year ago—and no one complains about this. On the other hand, miners buy graphics cards, companies raise their prices to exorbitant prices, and everyone wants to hang the miners. It's a curious way of looking at things.

  2. I'm still happy with my i7 4790K, 8GB RAM and the GTX 970 in Full HD throws everything in Ultra hahahahaha! but if this continues, I think it will be convenient to start venturing into the world of consoles as well ...
