Volta-based NVIDIA Tesla V100s tear apart Pascal-based NVIDIA Tesla P100s

The Volta architecture is only available for professional systems, since NVIDIA has not seen it necessary to launch this architecture on the market, since AMD's Vega graphics are unable to overshadow NVIDIA's Pascal. The Tesla V100 are a professional solution that implements the best of the company, starting with the 12nm manufacturing process, has NVLink 2.0 technology, makes use of HBM2 memories, has a large number of Tensor Cores for AI and others. technologies, which make it an extremely powerful and unique solution.

NVIDIA has also released a table that compares the performance of the P100 and the V100 and the difference is remarkable, very remarkable. The improvement in power in FP64 / FP32, as we can see, is 50%, the HBM2 memories are 20% more powerful, it has 50% more L2 cache, the NVLink bandwidth is improved by 90% , although the biggest jumps are in the L1 cache, which rises by 770%, the DL Training which rises by 1200% and the DL Inferencing rises by 600%, which has greatly multiplied the power of this solution.

The first benchmark of NVIDIA DGX-1 systems based on the Tesla V100 has also been seen, both in the CUDA API and in the OpenCL API. The first result, in OpenCL, gives no less than 481504 points, while in CUDA it offers a score of 743537, which shows a brutal performance of this system, much higher than other solutions on the market based on the Tesla P100, even twice the performance or more.
