Fujitsu sells 51% of its laptop business to Lenovo, in order to re-lead the laptop market, which has been taken from it by HP.
Lenovo's expansion continues unstoppable and wants to increase its advantage in key segments, such as notebooks, where the company offers quality products at a very good price. The company's latest move is to take over Fujitsu's computer division. This purchase will be closed for an amount of 157 million dollars, amount, with which this company of Asian origin will acquire 51% of Fujitsu's laptop business. This operation will serve to create a joint partnership between both companies.
This movement aims to return Lenovo to the leadership of the computer market, after losing the leadership of the industry, which is currently in the hands of HP, so the Asian company seeks a coup within its strategy. Apparently the idea of buying the majority of Fujitsu's notebook segment and launching a new brand of equipment would be the great strategy to achieve this and Lenovo would benefit from this, which would achieve the objective, although it remains to be seen if this will be successful.
It has been known that for the moment Fujitsu will continue with its name on the products and that the work teams will not be modified for the moment, so the changes will be minimal. This movement is very important for both companies. Fujitsu is the biggest beneficiary, since the notebook section was not the preferred one for the company and little effort was made to maintain it. Lenovo will be able to increase its growing popularity, since its solutions are usually cheaper and more powerful than those of the competition, allowing, with all this, to return to lead the market.
