Developers don't think Stadia will be profitable or last

Google has launched Stadia on the wrong foot and it does not seem that it will go well or last long. That is why there are hardly any games.

If you look at the Google Stadia catalog, despite the fact that we were promised more than a hundred games in their day, today they are barely thirty. Weeks ago Google said that if there were no games it was because the developers do not want to put their games on the streaming platform.

There is no trust in the Google platform

If you look closely at the Google Stadia catalog, it is all full of games from big developers but there are hardly any games from small companies with the exception of SteamWorlds. The only one that is saved is Gylt from Tequila Works because by having temporary exclusivity, he gained a certain economic benefit.

It is known that games like Doom Eternal are coming, Avengers or Cyberpunk 2077. All cross-platform games for which Stadia is just another platform and that people will already want to play on PC or on consoles like Xbox One or PlayStation 4. Bussines Insider spoke with independent developers who said they see no reason to trust it Google project.

To summarize, they said that it was repeated a lot that there was no incentive to put their games there. They did not promise an amount of money or an audience that would justify making ports. Another factor they do not trust is that Google does not cut itself when it comes to eliminating services attached to those of its search engines.

In the end, they don't see any benefit in getting their games to Google Stadia. Larger companies can afford to experiment or accept the sparing agreements that the search engine asks for and that is why we will see Doom Eternal or Cyberpunk 2077. But aside from those cases, no developer sees any incentives to put games on Google Stadia.
