Cryorig is the first brand to announce full heatsink compatibility for Intel Basins Falls processors, without the need for custom LGA 2066 socket anchors.
The new Intel Basins Falls processors are given a lot to talk about due to their performance and their temperatures. These processors have something positive, the power in processor-dependent tasks, where they offer good performance and high power and also a normal-size HIS, quite similar to the one with the Kaby Lake, for example. So far we had not seen any information about the compatibility of current heatsinks on the market with Basins Falls compatibility, but Cryorig has broken the trend and has certified that their heatsinks are compatible with the LGA 2066 socket.
Cryorig has officially confirmed that all heatsinks that are compatible with the LGA 2011v3 socket will be fully compatible with the LGA 2066 socket, intended for Skylake-X and Kaby Lake-X processors. The list of compatible models is based on A-series AIO kits, R1 Ultimate / Universal, R5, C1, H5 Ultimate / Universal, and H7 Quad Lumi air cooled models. The compatibility of these heatsinks is based on the heatsink anchor, which is completely the same as the LGA 2011v3, so we do not need adapters to install it in the new LGA 2066 socket. The heatsinks designed for socket AM4, the AMD Ryzen ones, do not they will be compatible with the socket of the new Intel processors.
Very different will be the situation with AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors, as AMD HEDT processors are twice as large as Intel HEDT processors. Noctua presented several prototypes of heatsinks for said AMD processors, but already said that they would not be ready for the launch of the processors and everything indicates that when Threadripper arrives, there will be no compatible manufacturer heatsinks. The large size of the processors forces to create heatsinks exclusively for these processors, something that seems to be not being well received by manufacturers of heatsinks, since the market is small.
