Intel is developing the Intel NUC Skull Canyon equipment, Intel's gaming equipment that will implement Intel Coffee Lake-U processors.

Compact computers are increasingly in demand, as they are usually powerful systems that offer the same or similar features to large computers, but in a reduced size, ideal for users with little space or who do not want a system that occupies half a table. Intel has been using Intel NUCs for a long time, compact computers that give very good performance. The company is developing new Skull Canyon NUCs, in this case with Intel Coffee Lake-U processors, which are energy-efficient. Intel is finalizing teams with Core i7, Core i5 and Core i3 that will have a maximum TDP of 28W and that will have the Intel 300 Series chipset.

As simpler teams, we will have those that will carry the Core i3 that will have four physical cores and four processing threads and that will make up the most economical models of this family. The Core i5 and Core i7 will have four logical cores and eight processing threads, so six-core processors will not reach these systems. Intel will integrate in these systems integrated graphics of great power with memory eDRAM like memory L4 cache.

Intel, as always, will launch its own models quite limited for casual gaming and it is possible that the rest of the manufacturers will launch more powerful models with integrated graphics, designed for more powerful gaming. These machines will begin to be distributed from the second quarter of 2018. It is possible that during CES 2018 or later, more information about these machines will be given, such as the exact models of processors and their working frequencies, the units that they will mount for the storage and the amount of RAM to be integrated.
