The beginning of the year is being especially moved for Intel, which has seen its processors suffer from the Specter and Meltdown vulnerabilities. This security scandal is not the first that concerns the company, but it is one of the most serious that has been detected in recent years and on a larger scale, since it affects a large number of families. The problems are intensifying, as users are reporting that after installing security patches on Haswell and Broadwell processors, they simply reboot.
Brian Krzanich, CEO of Intel, has promised full transparency with the vulnerabilities detected by Google Project Zero, but the truth is that it is all opacity. He had to skip the problem, to recognize that it exists, two minutes of comments on the subject at CES 2018 and the fact of selling part of the shares before uncovering the whole case, are not exactly transparent acts.
The company has acknowledged that many users are reporting problems with their processors, causing unexpected reboots after installing patches to overcome the Meltdown and Specter vulnerabilities. The problem at the moment, is reported by users who have Haswell and Broadwell processors and not only occurs at the domestic level, they are also sources of professional segments, such as Data Centers, which report these unexpected restarts.
We do not know if it is a good time, to say that this problem will be solved by the usual means or what is the same, through updates from Windows Update and the corresponding operating systems and not only that, it also reminds us of the importance of having the operating system updated , although it is not the best time for this, because the update would be giving problems.
This situation is being much more complicated than what Intel had anticipated at first and it is being difficult to cover, since it is not the first problem that appears regarding this vulnerability, after theoretically solving the vulnerability.
