AMD EPYC processors could see their price reduced
The new range of AMD EPYC processors would take advantage of improvements in silicon production.
Performance per mm² is one of the most important variables in the lifecycle of any silicon produced, and it seems AMD is breaking records (or getting very lucky) in this area. According to a study by Bitsandchips.it , the ability to produce silicon with 8 functional cores is hovering around 80%. This would have a significant impact on the company's finances, as they could increase their profit margin even by reducing the price for consumers or businesses with the new AMD EPYC processor lineup.

Although at first glance this appears to be a surprise, the fact of perfectly produced silicon is fully expected. For starters, the process they use is 14nm, which has taken a whole year to fully mature. And second, the area of the silicon is smaller, so the performance tends to go up exponentially. Since the area of the processor plays an essential role in the capacity and quality of production, surely this was already foreseen when choosing the size before production. So for AMD the play is going as planned.
And since the amount of “perfect” silicon is over 80%, the company can choose two ways to increase its profits; reduce the average selling price, thus increasing sales, so they sell more volume, ergo more profits, or simply leave it be and thus increase its profit margin. But AMD has always been characterized by low prices, so it is to be expected that the price will be reduced for the consumer.
Obviously, companies would also see the prices of the EPYC range reduced, leaving these gigantic processors with a more content price than they should have. Companies like Dropbox have already shown their interest in this platform:
