Filtered a possible top-of-the-range chipset by AMD, for the AMD Ryzen 2, which is called Z490 and which will have additional PCIe lines, to compete with Intel.
The arrival of the new AMD Ryzen 2 processors will bring with it new motherboards, although it will not be necessary to change motherboards, since they will also be compatible with the first generation Ryzen, with a BIOS update, yes, the new ones will not work XFR 2.0 and Precision Boost 2 technologies, among others that these new Ryzen will carry. Now the possible launch of a new chipset the Z490 has been leaked. It seems that Lisa Su's company is copying the naming mode of Intel chipsets and they want to own the names, since Intel will soon launch Z390 boards for eight-core Coffee Lake.
This somewhat tricky strategy is legal, although it is a bit ugly. Clearly, these new Z490 motherboards have been developed to cope with Intel's Z390 motherboards. The new Coffee Lake motherboards for eight-core processors are expected to have four extra PCIe 3.0 lanes, so AMD would be working on trying to match the number of Intel PCIe lanes or at least stay as close as possible.
We are going to be cautious about it as this is just a leak, a rumor, but usually these rumors are confirmed sooner rather than later. We remember that a few days ago Biostar left a photograph of a motherboard manual, where the reference to Intel's Z390 chipset was clearly visible and Eurocom confirmed the eight-core Coffee Lake. We will see if AMD has any surprise prepared for this motherboard, since it would be normal for the X470 to acquire the improvements, but if they bet on a new special chipset, it is that they have something saved.

That smells like they have a 2800X ready or the ultimate hit to i9 with Threadreaper 2
I think it's Threadripper 2
