Intel would not release the eighteen-core i9 7980XE processor, based on the Skylake-X architecture until the first half of next year, but we do not have reliable data regarding the rest of the processors.
During Computex 2017 we have attended the presentation of the Intel Basins Falls processors based on the Kaby Lake-X and Skylake-X architectures, based on the 14nm + manufacturing process. All the processors have been confirmed by Intel and we know the price of all of these, but they will not arrive at the same time. The first to hit the market will be the i5 7640X and i7 7740X, based on Kaby Lake-X, in addition to the i7 7800X, i7 7820X and i9 7900X, which are based on Skylake-X and will arrive later this month. June.
Well, it has been revealed that the i9 7920X, i9 7940X, i9 7960X and i9 7980XE processors, which are based on Skylake-X. These processors did not have a date of arrival at the market until now, but it has been leaked that the eighteen-core processor, the i9 7980XE, will arrive during the first half of next year. We do not know why this shared strategy by Intel is due. The working frequencies of these processors have not been given and we do not know if they will have 44 PCIe lines or incorporate more lines.
Intel will have the Intel X299 chipset for these processors and with this new motherboards will arrive, which we have seen at Computex 2017. The first processors should be an alternative to the AMD Ryzen Threadripper processors, which in the first instance will have those of win, since in the first batch versions of ten Intel processors will arrive for the sixteen processors of the AMD Ryzen Threadripper, although we already know that these processors have a really large socket and we know that there will be no availability of heatsinks for these processors by the most important manufacturers of coolers.
