Lucid Motor will integrate Mobileye technology

Lucid Motor's new vehicle will be fully autonomous and will compete directly with Tesla vehicles.

Lucid Motor, a California-based high-end electric vehicle company, has said it will use Mobileye technology in what will be its first autonomous vehicle, which, in theory, would compete with Tesla cars. We know that this Lucid Motor car has a power of 1000CV and a range of 640Km, which is called Lucid Air.

The Lucid Air will make use of a Mobileye camera and LIDAR sensor network technology, which detect obstacles using an optical system based on laser pulses invisible to the human eye. All of this will be controlled by special software that the company has developed to make your car as safe and efficient as possible.

As with Tesla cars, this Lucid Air vehicle will have all the necessary sensors to offer a driving system that is completely autonomous. Currently, those who acquire this vehicle will not have all the functionalities, something like the Tesla, which only offers driving assistance, although it should be noted that the video of the Tesla vehicle braking before an accident is generating expectation and much commotion.

We are clear that electric and autonomous vehicles are the future. This implies a change in energy consumption trends, significantly reducing dependence on highly polluting hydrocarbons and switching to electricity, which can be generated through non-polluting renewable systems. Lucid Air is an electric vehicle, which has a power of 1000CV, but its interpretation in electrical energy, if we apply the conversion, is 735.5kW.

We must bear in mind that the liter of hydrocarbons oscillates by € 1, being above or below. If we turn it to electric power, taking into account that the autonomy is 640KM, with a full charge, it would mean about € 110, and if we take into account that about 5 liters are consumed per 100KM, it is approximately € 35 in total (It is usually almost three times more, the vehicle being fully loaded by people and suitcases). Of course, the problem with hydrocarbons is pollution. If we charge it with renewable energy, the cost would be zero, so we would travel for free.
