MasterCard would have registered a special patent based on the blockchain, to offer greater security in the operations that are carried out daily by payment with credit cards.
According to a new patent application registered in the United States, the credit card company, MasterCard, is about to develop its own blockchain technology, for its introduction of a disruptive system of payment systems. The official documentation, which has been published by the US Patent and Trademark Service, has registered a uniform payment mechanism, with the intention of significantly reducing the friction that exists between the different factors involved in transactions between trading platforms. The documentation includes a detailed description of the operation of a distributed accounting system, where details such as a graphical interface for monitoring operations, among others, are considered.
MasterCard, to develop this solution, would use a blockchain system, for the storage of a data accounting system, associated with the operations. This is not the first solution for the credit or debit card market that makes use of blockchain technology, but this is a great solution that could become an interesting application, with great adoption, by the main companies in this sector. sector. Previously, development systems under blockchain have been sought to connect the networks of credit card franchises, but they have been expensive to implement. This does not mean anything more than a low interest by the main players to take advantage of technological evolution.
MasterCard's description of the patent itself filed, 'in some cases, the blockchain can be configured to store associated data (…) In the system, data values can include purchase orders, invoices, variable data and other data stored in the general ledger, as explained here '. It is intended to prevent manipulation by external agents, the violation of this system and the modification of operations, thanks to the impossibility of modifying the data registered under this technology.
