It seems that the first functional game to implement Raytracing, will be Metro Exodus and it is possible that it will be presented at the NVIDIA Gaming Technology Conference 2018.

These days, Raytracing technology, the new technology for tracing light rays in real time, has gained a great prominence, which allows improving lighting, allowing the creation of more photorealistic scenes. It seems that the first Triple A game to implement this technology will be Metro Exodus. Who has been responsible for its announcement has been 4A Games, who has indicated that they have been working with the gaming division of NVIDIA for a long time to implement the reflection and lighting system in real time in the game.

Not only that, the developers have announced that in the coming days they will publish a technology demo, where the NVIDIA RTX technology will be shown in all its splendor. The presentation may be during the Gaming Technology Conference 2018, which is organized by NVIDIA itself and which will take place between March 26 and 29.

Do not get too excited either, since at the moment this technology you will not be able to enjoy it, because it is only compatible with NVIDIA Volta graphics, because these Volta GPUs implement Tensor Core, which are special cores for advanced computing and that currently They are used for Artificial Intelligence. Currently there are only the TITAN V and the Tesla V100, with prices outside the gaming market, since they are intended for the professional segment and not for gaming.

Although Metro Exodus implements this technology, no Pascal will be able to execute it. The idea is to demonstrate the potential and will be future graphics cards that have Tensor Core, intended for gaming. We do not know when the graphics cards compatible with this technology will arrive, but NVIDIA is apparently not in a hurry, because the competition from AMD at the moment is nil.
